Geschichtsportal Ostbelgien

Date: 19 February 2019. The Centre for East Belgian History presented its online portal on the history of East Belgium.

The website Grenzgeschichte DG had already existed for some time, rendering important parts of the history of the border area accessible through valuable eyewitness accounts, memory trails, and various other projects.

The new portal geschichte.be put the detailed history of East Belgium on the internet for the first time (in four languages). Since then, visitors have been able to immerse themselves in the history of the region, study sources, and experiment with history in the chapters Travel through Time, Travel through Space, History Lab, Research and Sources.

The portal is constantly evolving, and we relaunched and expanded it in 2022-2023. During 2024, the portal became available in French, Dutch, and English.
