You can see numerous uniformed groups scattered around the square. They seem to be members of the German Labour Front (DAF), the Hitler Youth (HJ) and the League of German Girls (BDM). Numerous swastika flags adorn the square.
The photographer is on a slightly elevated spot at the edge of the stage where notable National Socialists are gathered.
A closer look reveals that those present are placed in such a way, or that the photographer deliberately chose a perspective to conceal open spaces. This creates – intentionally or not – the impression that the square is filled with people.
If you look closely, you will also notice the people at the windows in the background, which gives the impression of a mass event. There are also three other photographers in the picture in front of the stage. All this illustrates the importance of image propaganda in National Socialism.
